Flawless Skin Routine

This spring, my skin has been up and down. Some days it will be super dry, while other times it is great! With the fluctuating weather, it can be hard to maintain clear, flawless skin. But I have finally found the perfect skincare routine, makeup and all, so you can feel and look flawless.

As soon as I wake up in the am, I will rinse off any product or cream from the night before and let my skin breath. I feel like it just needs a minute to sit before applying any other lotions. In that time, I’ll usually eat breakfast or relax. Once I am ready to get ready, I’ll do my regular cleanse and exfoliate routine then move on to the important part: hydration. I never realized how important moisturizer was until a few years ago. It does take some trial and error to figure out the best one for your skin, but once you do, it is amazing. I’ve been using the Philosophy Purity Made Simple Ultra-Light Moisturizer, and it is amazing. After, I’ll spray a bit of Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir all over my face and fan dry.

For primer, I LOVE Origin’s Original Skin Pore Perfecting Cooling Primer. At first, the foam tripped me up, but once I began to use it everyday, I noticed such a difference. It’s light and makes your skin feel so fresh. After that, I go into my regular face makeup routine! Products listed below!

**Note: I use a Real Techniques Beauty Sponge for all of my liquid products, along with setting my undereyes!

L’Oreal Pro Matte Foundation

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer

Kat Von D Lock-It Translucent Powder

Benefit Hoola Bronzer

Nars Blush in Dolce Vita

My Current Favorites

Lately, I have been obsessing over some amazing products! Plenty of skincare and a little bit of hair too, these products have improved the look, feel, and overall appearance within the last few weeks!

Tea Tree Oil Shampoo

Maple Holistics was kind enough to send me their Tea Tree Oil Shampoo to try out, and I have been in love ever since. The scent is subtle, and I have found that it improves the hair, scalp, and hair growth. It’s also all natural, which is something I have been wanting to explore in the cosmetic industry!

If you’re interested in trying out their Tea Tree Oil Shampoo or any of their other products, they are offering a free samples program that I think you’ll love!

Gourmand EDP Fragrance The Matcha

This is by far my favorite perfume of the moment. The scent is fresh, sweet, and perfect for every season! The bottle is clean and classic and looks great on a vanity too! And it won’t break the budget.

Hot Vegan Probiotic & Spice Rehab Mask

This is by far the BEST mask I have ever used. It clears up blemishes and the skin, relieving stress and leaving a natural glow. I have already gone through one bottle and need to repurchase ASAP! It’s gentle enough to use daily for the best results! 10/10 recommend!

Fresh Vitamin Nectar Moisture Glow Face Cream

This face cream smells like citrus and feels like silk. I have never used a moisturizer more nourishing. It blends into the skin perfectly and actually gives that after facial glow.

Philosophy Microdelivery Exfoliating Face Wash

I was in need of a good daily exfoliator, and once I found this one from Philosophy, my life has changed. I use it everyday without causing irritation, and it has smoothed out my skin tremendously, leaving it with zero dry patches or dullness.

These items are so good! I recommend trying them out if you are looking for something new!

My Must Have Skincare Right Now

Skincare has become my new favorite obsession (along with makeup still of course!) I have tested out and acquired quite a few favorites, which I love sharing! Here are my must have skincare products of right now!

fullsizeoutput_21b

  1. The Pearlessence Cucumber Water Mist was an interesting find! I found it at TJ Maxx and seems to be some sort of unknown, indie skincare brand, that takes a lot of inspiration from the brand Herbivore. The scent is light, and the mist adds a refreshing feel to you skin. If you are in any of the TJ Maxx or Marshalls stores, see if they carry any of their items! They are hidden gems.
  2. The Tarte Brightening Eye Cream has been an absolute savior for my poor undereyes. I have continuously gone back to using this product after finding that other drug store eye creams were burning/not doing anything for the area. Even though it is pricey for the size, it does wonders with its thick and creamy formula.
  3. The Purity Made Simple has been my go to for removing makeup. I got my mom hooked on this as well for its gentle and fresh smelling formula. You can buy it in large bottles to save money and it lasts you for months. I can’t say enough good things about this product.
  4. Sephora has changed the game with their sheet masks. I love the rose one for its hydrating and plumping abilities, but they all are great. The mask is thin, and although you may look like Freddie or Jason, your skin looks noticeably better just after taking it off.
  5. Exfoliating is always my number one problem. The Peter Thomas Roth FirmX Peeling Gel is a gentle way to get rid of dead skin. The gel goes on dry and pushes away rolls of dead skin in an instant. It sounds gross, but is actually very satisfying and does the job well.
  6. The Murad Clarifying Mask is an overnight pimple saver. With just one dot, the mask dries out any existence of a pimple and leaves you with smooth looking skin. I like to use it as a spot treatment, but it can be applied as a full mask too.
  7. The Fresh Soy Face Cleanser has been my go to and has changed my skin for the better! It has helped to reduce over-drying and has faded impurities. It is also gentle enough for even the most sensitive and acne prone skin.

I hope you will take some of my must haves and try them for yourself! Obviously, not everyone is going to like everything, but that is the beauty of trying new skincare.

Product of the Moment | Sephora Sheet Masks

I have officially found my favorite face masks, and they are the Sephora Sheet Masks. I am so incredibly behind on the obsession, but my love for these are real.

I was actually very nervous to try these the first time around because I am always fearful that new products will break me out. My skin is on the sensitive side at times, and I didn’t feel like having to deal with the consequences if things didn’t go as planned. However, I took the plunge and boy, was I glad I did.

The first mask I tried was the pearl eye mask. I had been running off of a busy twelve hour day with makeup that was slowly melting off of my face. I hopped in the shower, cleansed, toned, and placed these babies underneath my eyes and was ready for the magic to happen. I left them on for the required amount of time, and when I went to remove them, my under eyes felt so hydrated and refreshed. I patted in the rest of the liquid heaven under my eyes and went to sleep to wake up to diminished dryness and puffiness.

I decided to try the orchid face mask a few days later and was equally pleased. Even though I looked like a character out of the film Halloween, I was in love with the outcome. The next day my skin was no longer dry or peeling, and it felt softer than before.

These masks range from $5-$6 and are an affordable way to enjoy the luxury of a sheet mask.

Sephora Sheet Masks

Definitely try these masks out! They can be found at all Sephora retailers in store and online. They are the perfect gift and stocking stuffer for this holiday!

Montreal Travel Diary: Makeup Essentials

I recently went to Montreal for two days and had an amazing time! Packing seemed to be easy; bring some shorts, leggings, dress, converse etc. But when it comes to my makeup, narrowing down the items I bring can be tricky. However, figuring out your daily essentials makes picking items extremely easy. Here is exactly what I packed!

The key to packing makeup and other beauty essentials is finding the right bag to pack the items in. Target carries the Sonia Kashuk collection that has a variety of styles, sizes, patterns, and compartments. I typically only bring one primer and foundation, along with a basic tinted moisturizer. I also carry my favorite concealer to highlight and spot conceal, as well as pack two setting powders. The Benefit Hoola Bronzer is my new must have product. It warms up the skin and perfectly contours the cheek bones. I brought two blushes in different tones to spice up any look. I kept the eyes very minimal with one palette that also contains cheeks and a highlight. The hardest part is limiting the lip colors. Unless I plan on doing a specific look, I will bring mainly nude toned liquid lips and glosses, two max. Below are the links to the products I used.

Primer: Makeup Forever Step One Smoothing Primer

Foundation: Too Faced Born This Way

Concealer: Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer

Powder: Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder; Makeup Forever HD Powder

Bronzer: Benefit Hoola Bronzer

Blush: Tarte 12-Hour Blush; Nars Blush in Dolce Vita

Highlight: MAC Soft and Gentle; Becca Champagne Pop

Eyeshadow: Tarte Swamp Queen Palette

Mascara: MAC False Lashes Mascara; L’Oreal Telescopic

Lips: Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint

Below are other travel makeup inspiration for your next trip!

Simple Eye, Glossy Lip | Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint | Courtney Kaner

I was recently browsing around Sephora, picking up my daily necessities when I thought to myself, I need more glosses. Then again, I always say I need something makeup related. While looking around, I passed Nars’ glosses, which I love, then stumbled upon one of my favorite displays- Tarte. I’ve been eyeing their lip paints for a while. But because it is summer, I wasn’t looking for a matte lip cream, but a gloss. Clearly, it was meant to be! Tarte recently came out with their line of Tarteist Lip Paints, but glossy versions.

I purchased double tap, which is a slightly gray mauve. It has such a creamy and smooth formula without it being sticky and having to peel blown hairs out of my lips. The applicator is soft and a pretty decent size for the tube. The selection of colors range from peaches and pinks, to nudes and purples.

I have always been a fan of Tarte, so I am partly biased, but I am so content with my gloss purchase that I wanted to share it with you all. I get asked a lot what some of my favorite lip products are, and frankly, I have no idea! I have yet to find one that screams Me or that I would feel like wearing everyday. However, the lip paint is currently at the top of my list.

I paired the gloss with such a simple makeup look because the color looks great with full glam and little to no makeup. A link to the product is listed below, along with my new tutorial feat. the beautiful gloss!
