Let’s take an adventure…

I have a love hate relationship with winter! I hate the snow and the cold, but I love layering and wearing my favorite knits! It’s a battle I’ll never win living in New England. With the winter months dragging on, I am here to take adventures… through the world of style of course! 😉

Today I wanted to feel put together and chic. I did not care if I was comfy or not! I wanted to strut my stuff and dress to impress! With a hair appointment and errands to run (Valentines day around the corner) I was ready! Instead of wearing jeans today, I threw on a pair of casual high-waisted black trousers. They have a draw string waist and zipped up pockets. To make them less “formal,” I tucked in a plain white cami and layered over a wool, black and white knit cardigan. Adding warmth, I wore my fave burgundy fringe scarf and my favorite heel booties!

This outfit took me two minutes to put together in my head! It is so easy and has the ability to look different every time you wear it! The pants are also a must for girls who do not like the tightness of jeans, but want a comfy “legging” feel.

I have also been getting many compliments on my eyebrows, which I will do a post on soon!

Bold Bottoms

Lately, I have been a huge fan of very bold patterns on pants. You saw me sport my camo pants in a previous blog, which I wear religiously. I love pants with a very defined pattern because it’s an easy way to sport a cute outfit and be adventurous!

Trust me, if people are looking at your bold pants, it is a good thing. I am wearing my “artsy” skinny toothpicks that cut off right at the ankle. The reason I say they are artsy is because it looks as though someone painted water colors on my denim. There are multiple designs and patterns, which grace the front and back of my bottoms. I then paired them with an interesting top combo. Peplums are one of my favorite trends, however most of mine are for the summer. What’s a girl to do? I wore my cream, peplum shirt with a zip-up back and layered a royal blue crop sweater over it. The two flow perfectly on my body and are just the right amount of layering to keep me warm. The peplum hem even allows the shirt to have a little shape as it poofs out a bit! I threw on a long necklace (mine has a key) and some short, biker boots with spike detailing.

This outfit took me only five minutes to pick out, and it’s probably one of my favorites so far. I love how the pants are the main statement piece. I feel like nowadays people always focus on wearing a bold top or accessory to make an outfit pop. But with a bold set of bottoms, you can add a little pop to your outfit without doing as everyone else does!

I know some people may be concerned about how the pattern will make them look. Trust me, I completely understand. I am a girl with hips and butt and would always shy away from a patterned pair of pants. I’ve learned that it all depends on the bold pair that you choose. If you are one who is worried about it making you look larger, try wearing a solid color that pops or even a very subtle and simple pattern. It doesn’t have to be over the top, but just enough to be the main focus in your outfit!

So try something new, and wear a bold bottom! You could be surprised at how one pattern may change your life and wardrobe!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, dolls! Can you believe it’s 2014? I hope everyone had a fantastic New Year! I thought I’d start the new year off right with a sassy blog post! In addition, do not fear! I have not forgotten about the big surprise I promised you all! It will be coming soon 😉

The crop top has swept the nation this past year as a “go to” trend for any occasion. I want to continue this trend in 2014 because it is the perfect way to show a little skin without it looking too slutty. Pair a cute crop top with a high-waisted skirt or pants and you are ready for a night out or a day with the girls!

I was actually debating wearing this ensemble on New Years Eve, but since it was slightly frigid where I was, I chose a different outfit. I am wearing my black, high-waisted slacks with a lace crop top. The lace crop top has individual clasps up the front and is also 3/4 sleeves. I paired the top with a black bandeau bra for coverage and to keep it appropriate. In the pictures I am not wearing shoes (didn’t want to scratch the floors!) but this look can be paired with a pair of black pumps or even leopard flats. Have fun with the shoes! That’s the advantage to wearing all black. Finally, I slipped on a chunky bracelet, pearl studs, and my fave plum lipstick.

I love this look! It is the perfect going out outfit, especially with this particular top. Every girl needs some pieces, solely for going out. They are so easy to mix and match with other pieces, especially if they are separates.

So the next time you’re going out with your girls or on a date, grab a crop top, a cute pair of pants or skirt, and rock it! You’ll turn heads and show off your body in a classy way.

Pants: 344       Top: Nordstroms      Bandeau: Target         Bracelet: Icing       Lipstick: Sephora (Crush)
