Last Weekend In NYC

As I’ve gotten older, I love going on weekend getaways! Last weekend, I took a trip with my love to New York City! As usual, we saw plenty of sites, ate a lot of incredible food, and shopped (just a little)!

I had a list of things I was dying to do and see! Our first day, we arrived to extremely wet and windy weather. We pretty much just grabbed lunch and dinner and called it a day! If ever you are in the mood for some yummy deep dish pizza, Emmett’s is the place to go! Bill found it because he loves deep dish! The restaurant was small, cozy, and clearly a spot a lot of locals go to! It was a great way to begin the weekend!

On Saturday, the sun was shining, and I couldn’t have been happier! We walked over to Central Park where we had brunch at Tavern on the Green! The food was SO good, not to mention the restaurant was quaint and lovely. After, we enjoyed the Central Park Zoo, which is probably by far my favorite zoo! We continued to walk around the city some more, and of course, whenever I am there, I always need to stop in Topshop. But the highlight was definitely going to Magnolia Bakery by Rockefeller Center. I had been following them forever on Instagram and knew this was a stop that needed to happen. We tried their banana pudding, and it was life changing.

That night, we went to dinner with my uncle and walked around Times Square. This was definitely one of my favorite NYC trips! When we left, I immediately felt the need to go back. And trust me, I am already planning the next weekend there!

For those asking about my pink hat that I wore during the trip, it is from H&M. I’d been looking for that style for a while, but was not a fan of how most of them looked on me. Once I found this one, I knew it was meant to be. You can find a similar one here!

Gardens and Roses

Beautiful fall days make me reminisce of times when I was a child and playing in the garden. The flowers and petals, bushes and foliage make me feel right at home in the city. Today’s fall look was perfect for a day spent with the calmness of sweet grass and large oaks.

I am wearing a gray, knit sweater with a high/low hem. I paired it with a pair of olive, coated denim and added a leopard scarf. I wore a nice pair of chestnut riding boots (my favorite) and finished the look with a wide brim black hat, and my Tory Burch tote!

This look is so easy and casual! The weather was perfectly crisp, so luckily I didn’t need a heavy coat! Also, coated denim is probably my favorite for this fall! They are very comfy jeans, but have a little extra flare, almost like leather.

Make a day to spend outside with beautiful trees or flowers! Soon it’ll be winter, and all there will be is the crisp, white snow.

Appreciate The Gray Skies

The weather has been quite gray lately, but that shouldn’t ruin your fall. Enjoy the gray skies and crisp cool breeze. Soon, we will be dealing with mounds of snow and ice. So, why not match your outfit to the color of the day?

I did just that by keeping with the cool, dark tones. I decided to wear a stripe, tweed blue and gray skirt. I paired it with a long black sweater that has faux leather detailing on the arms. This type of sweater is perfect with a form fitting skirt because it drapes right over it! I added a leather jacket to keep warm and even a patterned scarf to add another touch of blue. I finished off the look with a pair of chestnut riding boots and my black Tory Burch tote.

This is my FAVORITE SKIRT! It fits many body types and actually slims the hips, rather than making them look bigger. The horizontal striped pattern can be unflattering at times on certain body types, but even a solid would work. It’s the perfect way to dress up, yet add a cool edge to your style!

Enjoy the rest of your Monday and do not forget to embrace those occasional gray skies!

Rainy Days, Stuck Inside….

With all of these gloomy days, I have spent my time stuck inside trying to find something to do. My main task:  organizing my clothes and shoes. But just because I was stuck inside does not mean that I don’t have my style game going!

On these rainy days, I usually like to bundle up and keep extra cozy. I am wearing a long sweater length dress with faux leather detailing. I paired a cranberry pair of cotton leggings, changing up the look, as well as added a black and white checkered scarf. Rain boots were a must, especially with my black Hunters. Accessories were kept limited with only a bracelet and studs.

A black sweater is a necessary staple piece, especially for this fall. This shirt is so comfy, but still has that “put together” look. The leggings add a nice untraditional flare, since all black would have just been boring. I also recommend investing in a pair of wellies! Whether they are Hunters or another brand, in this weather they are a must to keeping your feet dry!

On these rainy days, do not forget to dress fabulous, while still feeling comfortable!
