Instagram Outfit Breakdown

Friday night, I was decked out for a spring formal! My outfit consisted of leather, satin, and plenty of sass.

  1. Urban Outfitters Wheat Chain Wrap Choker Necklace
  2. Trouve Drape Front Leather Jacket
  3.  Urban Outfitters Kimchi Blue Tie-Shoulder Silky Mini Dress
  4. Michael Kors Cindy Large Dome Crossbody
  5. Sam Edelman Susie Ankle Strap Sandal

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and look of this dress. On the hanger, it looked bland, but on, it was very flattering and fit perfectly. Having to adjust the shoulder tie got annoying, but it made for easy adjustments if needed. Just be careful pulling it too much or the length will be way too short. Paired with the leather jacket and heels, the look was perfect for the weather (rainy). This would be great for a night out with friends or a date!

By now, you should all know that I am OBSESSED with maxi dresses! I already did one post breaking them out for the season! However, this post is naming them my TOP TREND FOR SPRING/SUMMER 2014! A simple maxi with a cropped jean jacket, light scarf, and sandals are perfect for any occasion!

Yesterday, I wore this maxi that I recently got in the mail with a jean jacket and some plain, flat chestnut sandals. The back is gorgeous on the maxi, so I cannot wait to show it again, only wearing it a different way! Some similar looks shown is one by Kim Kardashian (pre baby.) She pairs this cute knit maxi with a denim jacket, some aviator sunnies, sandals, and a cute beige tote bag. Jessica Alba, on the other hand, changed up her floral maxi look with a denim crop vest, cotton scarf, and some wedges! Each look adds a fresh and easy take on the fun maxi!

Maxi’s are fairly inexpensive and really easy to wear! Make sure the length is perfect! It shouldn’t be too long or too short! It should hit right at the ankle! Add a pop of color on the lips and some long luxurious locks and a girl is good to go!

Try this favorite trend for spring and summer! You will be fresh and fabulous for any occasion! Until next time!

Breaking out the Maxi’s

It was a solid 50 degrees today with the sun out, bright and shining! I could not resist the urge to throw on one of my new maxi dresses! I just got a package in the mail (we all know how excited I get when I receive mail) and could not wait to try everything on! I am hopeful warmer weather is on its way, so I can throw a cute maxi on and go!

Maxi’s come in all different styles and shapes with lengths that could range from having a train to being high/low. Today, I am wearing a red patterned maxi dress with spaghetti straps that criss cross, revealing a very open back. The length is long and has a couple of slits varying on either side. This dress also comes with a chest snap to better conceal the top part of the dress, and a slip underneath that only goes to the mid thigh. The pattern is on a paisley side with hues of blue and white mixed in. I paired this with  one of my new favorite obsessions, which is my new straw, woven hat. For shoes, I wore a pair of short booties, but when it’s warmer, I recommend wearing a pair of cute flat strappy sandals, preferably a neutral color. My hair was already curled, so it flowed perfectly with the look! I am not wearing any jewelry, but this look would go great with some gold bracelets/bangles or a long chain necklace with a pendent of some sort!

I am OBSESSED with maxi dresses! They are honestly the easiest thing to put together on a hot day, or if you are in a rush! They can be dressed up or down and always look well put together! Just throw on some cute sandals, a hat, and/or jean jacket and you are ready to rock that look over and over again!

So, why not try a maxi this season? You will be surprised at how easy and glamorous they can transform your look!

Where’s my horse?

I will be the first to say that I am not a country girl. It is a fact. I was born to be a city girl. The glamour that a city exudes and the hustle and bustle of everyday is what attracts me. However, when it comes to style, I am open to anything! I actually find a cute lace dress and riding boots to be sweet and innocent. However, I always end up joking around and asking the question Where’s my horse?

Since the weather was much warmer than usual, I decided to go tightless! I was shocked myself that I could walk out the door and not even freeze! I wore this adorable peach, lace dress with cap sleeves and a little button up back. The dress is on the shorter side, but no worries! Shorts can be worn underneath, depending on comfort. I then paired a semi-faded cropped jean jacket over and of course added my chestnut riding boots to finish off the look. I then pulled my hair back into a high pony and was ready to embrace the spring air!

I really like this look! Even though it is a little outside of my comfort zone, I love how comfortable it is! It also has elements of grace and sweetness! This look can be achieved with nearly any dress! Just think! You could have different outfits for everyday using simply the dresses in your closet! How could it get any better?!

So next time you are in the mood to add a spring air and some country flare, try this look! You will be surprised at how versatile it is! Dress it up, down, make it edgy, or plain! As long as you are wearing your confidence then that is all that matters!

Fuzzy and White

I have been a sale addict lately! I cannot get enough of finding quality items for cheap prices! I was recently searching through the sale rack, when I stumbled upon an adorable “fuzzy,” white dress! It reminded me of snowflakes, so I knew it was a must have purchase!

I am wearing my tweed/fuzzy dress with short sleeves and a V-neck. I then layered over my favorite army green jacket to add a little edge and everyday wear to it. I then paired a pair of black, opaque tights with chestnut riding boots and finished the look with some charm bangles and my Tory Burch wristband.

I absolutely love this fuzzy fabric! It is so warm and definitely not itchy! Stores like Nordstrom carry some adorable sweaters in this material from Wildfox Couture. The material brings back so many memories from my childhood!

So try wearing one of these adorable and absolutely comfortable pieces! They are fuzzy and sure to be stylish for any girl!

An Unusual Pair…

I am always looking for new ways to spice up my wardrobe. Instead of buying new pieces of clothing, I’ve found I can take the pieces I already have and change them up depending on the day. One thing that I’ve tried and absolutely love is the sweater and dress combo. Surprisingly, layering a big comfy sweater over a short dress can add a new look to your closet!

The dress I am wearing is my cranberry shirt dress with 3/4 sleeves, which I wore in my previous boho chic post. I then layered my black and white oversized sweater with zipper shoulder detailing. The reason this particular sweater works with the dress is because it is longer in the back and shorter in the front. This allows the look to blend better when it is on your body! I wore my plain, black opaque tights, chestnut brown riding boots, and threw on a black scarf just to keep warm!

The look is a lot of fun to put together because you can mix and match pretty much any sweater to any dress in your closet and have a put together look for any occasion.

Try it out! Add your own personal touches too! The look will soon be your go to outfit for any day!

A Rustic Edge…

Sometimes the cutest outfits aren’t necessarily the ones that have to make a statement. I’ve fallen in love with the big sweater and dress combo, especially for the winter time. Add on a pair of riding boots, tights, and curl your locks, and you have a rustic style that is clean and cozy.

Considering the weather was cold and dreary today, this look was the perfect way to make me feel warm and stylish. I paired my floral, three quarter sleeve dress (with open back) with a long, over size sweater. Even though both pieces had a pattern, they worked well together because the floral print was subtle enough to wear with the big pattern on the sweater. My tights were simple, black opaque tights, and I wore my chestnut riding boots with them . To finish off the look, I wore a simple feather necklace and curled my hair to form large waves. The look was so easy to put together and definitely versatile.

I am not much of a rustic gal, but wearing this outfit makes me feel comfy without having to wear sweatpants. It is easy and very girly! Perfect for the girl on the go too!

Change the outfit up, mix and match, but whatever you end up wearing, I hope this inspired you to turn to a more rustic side with your style!

Peek a Boo….

Even though it’s the middle of December, you can still show a little skin. I’m not talking about cleavage, ladies. Open backs are my new obsession and should be worn more readily. They look great on nearly everyone and leave a little to the imagination. Open backs on shirts are cute, only if they are done properly. Many can look cheap, tacky, and border line too much. However, open backs on dresses are stunning! Whether it’s an evening gown,or just a short, casual skater dress, the open back adds a twist onto a classic look.

But you don’t need to show off your entire back to achieve the look. A little peek a boo goes a long way. I recently bought a fabulous burgundy dress with a triangle opening in the back. It’s classy, but adds a little surprise when you turn around.

To avoid ruining the look, make sure you wear the proper bra. Victoria Secret and Target sell the chicken cutlets, as well as the bra with sticky sides. They are reusable and so worth getting! It’s a staple piece that every girls’ closet should have!

So why not take the leap, and show a little skin the classy way? It’ll make heads turn and set all eyes on you, especially during the holidays.
