Now that it is finally July, and there is a massive heat wave rolling through, I have been even more protective of my skin. After just 2 consecutive days in the sun, my skin was dry and feeling the effects of the UV rays. Protecting your skin from the sun’s harmful rays is one of the best ways to prevent aging in the future and help the overall look and feel of your skin! Below are some of my must haves for suncare.
The only sunscreen I use on my face is Tarte’s Tarteguard SPF 30. After years of struggling to find a sunscreen that wouldn’t break me out, but also protect my skin from burning, I stumbled on this and have never gone back. It’s lightweight, can be worn under makeup, and smells amazing. Although it is pricey for a sunscreen, one of these lasts me the whole summer because all you need is a small amount.
For time’s that I have burned my skin and the aftermath is dry and like leather, I love applying the Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask to replenish and hydrate. After one night, my skin is glowing and fresh. I tend to combine it with a bit of aloe to also reduce redness.
*Pro tip: refrain from applying this product every night. Overuse on my skin makes me breakout.
I usually do not like layering myself in lotion on a hot summer night, but when it comes to hydrating your skin, making your tan last, and helping any kind of sunburn, this product is my go-to! The Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration After Sun Lotion is super lightweight and smells like a pina colada. It is light enough to apply on even the hottest of nights and feels more hydrating than a typical aloe vera.
Finally, the most important part! Sunscreen for your body! I love the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Lightweight Sunscreen Spray. I use SPF 30 and it works like magic. It is cooling on the body and adds such a glow to your skin. I have always had such good luck with this spray because it is super convenient and easy to apply!
Sunscreen and suncare is such a personal choice. I still to this day see so many people using tanning oils or lotions in the sun. It is everyone’s right to use whatever skin products they want, but just make sure you are educated in what will protect you from the effects of harmful UV rays. I am not a doctor, so I do not know what is best for everyone. However, for my fair skin, I use these products to protect me. I have so many beauty marks on my body, so protecting my skin and making sure they don’t become harmful is very important to me. If you have questions on the SPF you should be using or items that would be best for you, consult a dermatologist or doctor.
I hope my must haves help you find the best suncare products for your skin!
