My Fall Weekend in NYC

Fall is one of my favorite times of year and what a better way to spend it than in New York City. Below is a recap of last weekend and outfit details!

The main reason I was in NYC was for the Bite Beauty Lip Lab. My mom and I had an appointment to make our very own Bite Beauty lipstick. It was such a cool experience, and I recommend it to any makeup lover or anyone looking for a custom lip color. I of course chose a nude shade, but got to try and leave with a neon purple one!

It wouldn’t be a trip to NYC if I didn’t eat… a lot! I ate so good this trip, but nothing was better than visiting Laduree for the first time. The brunch was amazing and the macarons were so magical. I need to go back asap! I am still dreaming of the rose croissant I enjoyed.

My family and I spent our time mainly in the Soho area, which is definitely the spot to be. We used to always visit Times Square, but after a while, I just couldn’t stand the crazy crowds. The streets were mainly residential with plenty of shopping and cafes.

Now to the favorite part… my outfit!

I have such an obsession with these hats! I call them train conductor hats, but they are more formally known as baker boy hats. The one I am wearing is from Nordstrom Rack and was such a steal for only $12.95! I paired it will a plain cotton long sleeve, high-waisted Topshop boyfriend jeans, white Adidas, a tan cardigan over the shoulder, and my Rebecca Minkoff crossbody. Outfit links are below!

I cannot wait to plan my next weekend getaway and share it with you!

Ripped Denim and Lace

On casual days where I still want to feel and look put together, I combine my two favorite things: ripped denim and a lace shirt. The combination is classic and comfy, yet looks amazing for any occasion.

I’m sporting my favorite Blank NYC dark, ripped denim with a white lace ToSave.com shirt. (Check one of my previous posts on my review of the items I received from them!) I paired the look with a simple khaki jacket and white converse.

Jeans: Nordstrom (Similar)         Top: ToSave.com

Jacket: Marshalls (Similar)        Sneakers: Converse

Lace shirts are a huge trend for spring and summer. It combines the sexiness of lingerie and the comfiness of a casual cami. To dress the look up, pair a strappy heel and clutch or large tote bag. The look is versatile, simple, and sure to turn heads!

Bold Bottoms

Lately, I have been a huge fan of very bold patterns on pants. You saw me sport my camo pants in a previous blog, which I wear religiously. I love pants with a very defined pattern because it’s an easy way to sport a cute outfit and be adventurous!

Trust me, if people are looking at your bold pants, it is a good thing. I am wearing my “artsy” skinny toothpicks that cut off right at the ankle. The reason I say they are artsy is because it looks as though someone painted water colors on my denim. There are multiple designs and patterns, which grace the front and back of my bottoms. I then paired them with an interesting top combo. Peplums are one of my favorite trends, however most of mine are for the summer. What’s a girl to do? I wore my cream, peplum shirt with a zip-up back and layered a royal blue crop sweater over it. The two flow perfectly on my body and are just the right amount of layering to keep me warm. The peplum hem even allows the shirt to have a little shape as it poofs out a bit! I threw on a long necklace (mine has a key) and some short, biker boots with spike detailing.

This outfit took me only five minutes to pick out, and it’s probably one of my favorites so far. I love how the pants are the main statement piece. I feel like nowadays people always focus on wearing a bold top or accessory to make an outfit pop. But with a bold set of bottoms, you can add a little pop to your outfit without doing as everyone else does!

I know some people may be concerned about how the pattern will make them look. Trust me, I completely understand. I am a girl with hips and butt and would always shy away from a patterned pair of pants. I’ve learned that it all depends on the bold pair that you choose. If you are one who is worried about it making you look larger, try wearing a solid color that pops or even a very subtle and simple pattern. It doesn’t have to be over the top, but just enough to be the main focus in your outfit!

So try something new, and wear a bold bottom! You could be surprised at how one pattern may change your life and wardrobe!

Comfy Sunday!

On Sunday’s like these all I want to do is curl up on a couch with my pjs on. Knowing me, that doesn’t last long. So, what’s a girl to do? Put on an outfit that is both comfy and chic!

On this gray day, I decided to wear a pair of my camo, toothpick skinny jeans, which are stretchy and super comfy with a 3/4 sleeve, black sweater. The sweater is long with a V-neck and has a satin back. To spice up the look and add some color, I wore my burgundy, fringed scarf. On my wrist, I am wearing my Alex and Ani charm bangles mixed with some beaded ones and my Tory Burch band. I kept my shoes on the simple side and wore a pair of my chestnut loafers with gold stud detailing.

The reason I love this look is because it is one that I always turn to. I always wear my camo pants because they are extremely versatile. I can throw them on with a comfy sweater and scarf and feel put together. It’s something I will stand by forever!

So when you’re feeling lazy, why not throw on an easy outfit? Curl your hair! Do your makeup! You’ll feel put together and 100% better!

A Little Boho Chic…

I always said that if I could live in a specific time period it would definitely be the ’60s. I love hippie/boho. It’s a great style that is not only comfortable with its long, flowy blouses and wide, brim hats, but also extremely chic and versatile. It’s easy to accomplish and definitely something everyone should experiment with.

My look started by pairing a cranberry shirt blouse with a pair of plain opaque black tights. From there I layered an army, green blazer over the look. The blazer has tribal print detailing on the arms and is so warm with its wool sleeves. From there, I wore my wide, brim black hat with chain detailing and some super cute knee high chestnut boots. Accessories were also crucial in this outfit! I wore bangles on bangles of my Alex and Ani bracelets and tied the entire look together with a long necklace (It’s a key :)).

The colors, although seem like complete opposites, actually compliment each other. Because they are deep and neutral, they pair well together and definitely do not clash! Of course my favorite is the deep cranberry/burgundy dress, which I completely recommend purchasing! It is the most versatile piece I have in my closet!

So whatever the occasion may be, just remember that boho chic will also be FABULOUS!

Bringin’ (Sexy) Preppy Back

Dressing preppy doesn’t always mean wear J crew and polo shirts. You can look preppy and feel classic and edgy at the same time. My outfit consists of some staple pieces that should be in every girls wardrobe!

I started by pairing some of my favorites dark wash skinny jeans with a jean blouse layered with a soft knit sweater. I specifically chose one with a cute, sassy logo, but you can always choose one that’s a solid color or has stripes. Layering these two pieces took some time to adjust, but I finally set them in a place that was comfortable on my body. I paired this look with a classy beaded necklace that included colors that complimented the rest of the neutral tones. If you do not have a beaded necklace, a big, chunky jeweled necklace would look just as fabulous. To finish off the look, I wore my chestnut, loafer flats with little gold studs along with my red peacoat. This pop of color brought the entire look together, adding a little spice. Of course this look can be rearranged to your liking, but these items are key to anyone’s closet in creating a simple easy look!
