An Unusual Pair…

I am always looking for new ways to spice up my wardrobe. Instead of buying new pieces of clothing, I’ve found I can take the pieces I already have and change them up depending on the day. One thing that I’ve tried and absolutely love is the sweater and dress combo. Surprisingly, layering a big comfy sweater over a short dress can add a new look to your closet!

The dress I am wearing is my cranberry shirt dress with 3/4 sleeves, which I wore in my previous boho chic post. I then layered my black and white oversized sweater with zipper shoulder detailing. The reason this particular sweater works with the dress is because it is longer in the back and shorter in the front. This allows the look to blend better when it is on your body! I wore my plain, black opaque tights, chestnut brown riding boots, and threw on a black scarf just to keep warm!

The look is a lot of fun to put together because you can mix and match pretty much any sweater to any dress in your closet and have a put together look for any occasion.

Try it out! Add your own personal touches too! The look will soon be your go to outfit for any day!

Comfy Sunday!

On Sunday’s like these all I want to do is curl up on a couch with my pjs on. Knowing me, that doesn’t last long. So, what’s a girl to do? Put on an outfit that is both comfy and chic!

On this gray day, I decided to wear a pair of my camo, toothpick skinny jeans, which are stretchy and super comfy with a 3/4 sleeve, black sweater. The sweater is long with a V-neck and has a satin back. To spice up the look and add some color, I wore my burgundy, fringed scarf. On my wrist, I am wearing my Alex and Ani charm bangles mixed with some beaded ones and my Tory Burch band. I kept my shoes on the simple side and wore a pair of my chestnut loafers with gold stud detailing.

The reason I love this look is because it is one that I always turn to. I always wear my camo pants because they are extremely versatile. I can throw them on with a comfy sweater and scarf and feel put together. It’s something I will stand by forever!

So when you’re feeling lazy, why not throw on an easy outfit? Curl your hair! Do your makeup! You’ll feel put together and 100% better!

A Rustic Edge…

Sometimes the cutest outfits aren’t necessarily the ones that have to make a statement. I’ve fallen in love with the big sweater and dress combo, especially for the winter time. Add on a pair of riding boots, tights, and curl your locks, and you have a rustic style that is clean and cozy.

Considering the weather was cold and dreary today, this look was the perfect way to make me feel warm and stylish. I paired my floral, three quarter sleeve dress (with open back) with a long, over size sweater. Even though both pieces had a pattern, they worked well together because the floral print was subtle enough to wear with the big pattern on the sweater. My tights were simple, black opaque tights, and I wore my chestnut riding boots with them . To finish off the look, I wore a simple feather necklace and curled my hair to form large waves. The look was so easy to put together and definitely versatile.

I am not much of a rustic gal, but wearing this outfit makes me feel comfy without having to wear sweatpants. It is easy and very girly! Perfect for the girl on the go too!

Change the outfit up, mix and match, but whatever you end up wearing, I hope this inspired you to turn to a more rustic side with your style!

It’s Never Too Late to Change Your Mind or Your Outfit…

Like most girls, I am very indecisive, especially when it comes to what I wear. I’ll pick out an outfit, accessorize it, then completely change my mind. One of my greatest assets is unfortunately also my greatest falt. However, it’s not a big deal! As long as you feel good in what you end up wearing, then that is all that matters!

My outfit shown is another take on a Christmas/holiday look. My black trousers are perfect for any figure. They are high-waisted, have a tie string for the waist, and become slimmer and narrower as they reach the ankle. The fabric is so comfortable and definitely another option if you don’t want to wear a skirt of dress. I paired the pants with a cow neck blouse, which is creme and has no sleeves. (It also shimmers!) I tucked the shirt in, in order to show off my waist and the pants better. For a jacket, I decided to add a little bit of edge and use a black leather jacket, and paired the look with my leopard flats. Because I kept the style to simple and classic with only the flats as a pop out piece, I decided to layer on an orange/coral lipstick and slicked my hair up tight in a sock bun. I recommend the sock bun just in case you may be having a bad hair day. Finally, I kept the look with minimal jewelry, only pearl studs.

The pop of color on the lips and the leopard print flats are definitely a way to keep this look classy and basic. I like how they are unexpected and something that catches people’s eyes! They definitely photograph well too!

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday filled with family and friends. And remember, whatever you are wearing, stay confident and fabulous!

A Christmas Filled with Style!

Christmas is practically a day away, which means it is time to start picking out an outfit. Every year, people always tell me they are tired of their classic sweater and leggings/jean ensemble and want something a little bit different. Christmas shouldn’t be a time where you dress boring; you should have fun and experiment with a look that you’ve always wanted to try!

My Christmas look consists of some head turning pieces that will surely make you best dressed at your holiday occasion. I am wearing a mini, leather “skater” skirt with stud detailing at the waist. I paired it with a classic sheer, black blouse with lace shoulder detailing and a bow that you can tie in the front! My shoes are simple, patent leather black pumps. To finish the look, I wore a jeweled bracelet, pearl studs, and put on some plum lipstick to add a pop of color!

Although this look might be not casual enough, you can always dress it down or change the pieces to your liking! This is your look! Make it what you want and own it! I love all black, especially for the winter season! It not only slims you, but is so easy to change up from day to day!

So whatever your outfit may be this holiday season, I wish everyone a happy, healthy holiday filled with family and friends!

A Little Boho Chic…

I always said that if I could live in a specific time period it would definitely be the ’60s. I love hippie/boho. It’s a great style that is not only comfortable with its long, flowy blouses and wide, brim hats, but also extremely chic and versatile. It’s easy to accomplish and definitely something everyone should experiment with.

My look started by pairing a cranberry shirt blouse with a pair of plain opaque black tights. From there I layered an army, green blazer over the look. The blazer has tribal print detailing on the arms and is so warm with its wool sleeves. From there, I wore my wide, brim black hat with chain detailing and some super cute knee high chestnut boots. Accessories were also crucial in this outfit! I wore bangles on bangles of my Alex and Ani bracelets and tied the entire look together with a long necklace (It’s a key :)).

The colors, although seem like complete opposites, actually compliment each other. Because they are deep and neutral, they pair well together and definitely do not clash! Of course my favorite is the deep cranberry/burgundy dress, which I completely recommend purchasing! It is the most versatile piece I have in my closet!

So whatever the occasion may be, just remember that boho chic will also be FABULOUS!

Bringin’ (Sexy) Preppy Back

Dressing preppy doesn’t always mean wear J crew and polo shirts. You can look preppy and feel classic and edgy at the same time. My outfit consists of some staple pieces that should be in every girls wardrobe!

I started by pairing some of my favorites dark wash skinny jeans with a jean blouse layered with a soft knit sweater. I specifically chose one with a cute, sassy logo, but you can always choose one that’s a solid color or has stripes. Layering these two pieces took some time to adjust, but I finally set them in a place that was comfortable on my body. I paired this look with a classy beaded necklace that included colors that complimented the rest of the neutral tones. If you do not have a beaded necklace, a big, chunky jeweled necklace would look just as fabulous. To finish off the look, I wore my chestnut, loafer flats with little gold studs along with my red peacoat. This pop of color brought the entire look together, adding a little spice. Of course this look can be rearranged to your liking, but these items are key to anyone’s closet in creating a simple easy look!

Winter Wonderland

I always get asked in the winter how I stay so warm yet chic! For me it’s pretty simple, but others think you have to layer and layer in the 20 degree weather! Layering can get very uncomfortable and can look very bulky. I’ve found that a quality, versatile coat is the key along with cute head-warmers and gloves! The look I’m wearing below is one of my favorites! The head-warmer is so adorable with the knit flower detail and keeps my head warm! It is from the store Francesca’s and can be worn two ways, either as a regular headband or how I am wearing it. The gloves are fingerless, which I love because it allows me to have easy access to my phone. They are Betsey Johnson, and I fell in love with the cheetah print. My scarf is burgundy and was purchased from Nordstrom’s, and my coat is Ivanka Trump, which I am in love with! It is so warm, and I can’t get enough of how it cinches in the waist, so it looks like I have a waist under all the bulk. One con about it is that it doesn’t have a hood, but that isn’t a problem for me because I don’t normally need one! The boots are made by Ugg, but I usually would have worn my Hunter wellies or my Sam Edelman riding boot, if it wasn’t so slushy out! Each of these items were great purchases and perfect for mixing in matching! Remember: Don’t only stay warm in this winter wonderland, but stay fabulous!

Peek a Boo….

Even though it’s the middle of December, you can still show a little skin. I’m not talking about cleavage, ladies. Open backs are my new obsession and should be worn more readily. They look great on nearly everyone and leave a little to the imagination. Open backs on shirts are cute, only if they are done properly. Many can look cheap, tacky, and border line too much. However, open backs on dresses are stunning! Whether it’s an evening gown,or just a short, casual skater dress, the open back adds a twist onto a classic look.

But you don’t need to show off your entire back to achieve the look. A little peek a boo goes a long way. I recently bought a fabulous burgundy dress with a triangle opening in the back. It’s classy, but adds a little surprise when you turn around.

To avoid ruining the look, make sure you wear the proper bra. Victoria Secret and Target sell the chicken cutlets, as well as the bra with sticky sides. They are reusable and so worth getting! It’s a staple piece that every girls’ closet should have!

So why not take the leap, and show a little skin the classy way? It’ll make heads turn and set all eyes on you, especially during the holidays.
