Back to school is here! And although I am bittersweet and anxious about the new academic year to start, it is time to face reality and plan this year’s series of fashionable weeks!
Since fall doesn’t officially arrive until the end of September, we will still be forced to wear cooler clothes for the classroom heat. But that’s not a problem! We can still look back to school ready, while keeping up with the summer weather.
For the first day and first few weeks, a simple striped tee and shorts are a must. You can spruce it up with your favorite adidas, converse, hair and new backpack. My small black bag is perfect for any necessary school items. The long straps allow for shoulder comfort and the distressed material adds a vintage style! I got mine at Marshalls, but there are similar ones here and here.
Whatever your back to school look may be, have an excellent beginning of the year!
Labor Day is the last weekend of the summer where you can hit the beach or have a barbecue with family and friends. Nothing beats the warm, bright sun and crisp early fall breeze like my favorite pair of Ray-Bans.
My blue Ray-Ban Aviator Flash Lenses are the perfect accessory for the end of summer labor day fun, all the way into fall and winter. The lenses are perfectly polarized to block out the sun’s rays, while adding a pop of color to a whole look.
For the beach, I like to pair these, or my classic aviators, with a simple bikini and coverup. When fall comes, I cannot wait to wear these apple picking with a big burgundy sweater, leggings, even jeans and a flannel. Pair the whole look with some perfect waves and easy makeup, and you have the best look around.
These glasses are pricey, and although worth it, can break the bank. There are several other inexpensive options here and here.
I recently went to Montreal for two days and had an amazing time! Packing seemed to be easy; bring some shorts, leggings, dress, converse etc. But when it comes to my makeup, narrowing down the items I bring can be tricky. However, figuring out your daily essentials makes picking items extremely easy. Here is exactly what I packed!
The key to packing makeup and other beauty essentials is finding the right bag to pack the items in. Target carries the Sonia Kashuk collection that has a variety of styles, sizes, patterns, and compartments. I typically only bring one primer and foundation, along with a basic tinted moisturizer. I also carry my favorite concealer to highlight and spot conceal, as well as pack two setting powders. The Benefit Hoola Bronzer is my new must have product. It warms up the skin and perfectly contours the cheek bones. I brought two blushes in different tones to spice up any look. I kept the eyes very minimal with one palette that also contains cheeks and a highlight. The hardest part is limiting the lip colors. Unless I plan on doing a specific look, I will bring mainly nude toned liquid lips and glosses, two max. Below are the links to the products I used.
Primer: Makeup Forever Step One Smoothing Primer
Foundation: Too Faced Born This Way
Concealer: Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer
Powder: Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder; Makeup Forever HD Powder
Bronzer: Benefit Hoola Bronzer

Highlight: MAC Soft and Gentle; Becca Champagne Pop
Eyeshadow: Tarte Swamp Queen Palette

The other day, I turned the big 21! The day was filled with plenty of love, yummy food, sweets, and great celebration! If you follow me on Instagram (courtneyk1) you would have seen snippets of the day! But I wanted to share it all (or most of it) including my hair, makeup, outfit, and a few pics of the night!
My romper was from Nordstrom (unfortunately out of stock) is by Astr (similar). It is a gorgeous emerald green with V neck and back. My bralette is from H&M and the shoes are just a simple gladiator flat.
Makeup was done by myself! My hair was done courtesy of Luxebar! If you are looking for a great blow dry bar, I definitely recommend it!
I want to thank everyone for the birthday wishes and a fabulous birthday! Until next year!
I was recently browsing around Sephora, picking up my daily necessities when I thought to myself, I need more glosses. Then again, I always say I need something makeup related. While looking around, I passed Nars’ glosses, which I love, then stumbled upon one of my favorite displays- Tarte. I’ve been eyeing their lip paints for a while. But because it is summer, I wasn’t looking for a matte lip cream, but a gloss. Clearly, it was meant to be! Tarte recently came out with their line of Tarteist Lip Paints, but glossy versions.
I purchased double tap, which is a slightly gray mauve. It has such a creamy and smooth formula without it being sticky and having to peel blown hairs out of my lips. The applicator is soft and a pretty decent size for the tube. The selection of colors range from peaches and pinks, to nudes and purples.
I have always been a fan of Tarte, so I am partly biased, but I am so content with my gloss purchase that I wanted to share it with you all. I get asked a lot what some of my favorite lip products are, and frankly, I have no idea! I have yet to find one that screams Me or that I would feel like wearing everyday. However, the lip paint is currently at the top of my list.
I paired the gloss with such a simple makeup look because the color looks great with full glam and little to no makeup. A link to the product is listed below, along with my new tutorial feat. the beautiful gloss!
