Marble seems to be everywhere lately. It is no longer what you see in your parent’s bathroom or the counter of an upscale kitchen. The marble aesthetic is a huge trend for accessories, home decor, and even clothing!
Most of these items can be found in stores, such as Marshalls, Homegoods, Target, Urban Outfitters, Amazon and more! Classic pieces like these can spruce up any bedroom, dorm, outfit, even computer!
My notebook above is from Homegoods, my computer case is from Amazon, and phone case is from Amazon.
Back to school is here! And although I am bittersweet and anxious about the new academic year to start, it is time to face reality and plan this year’s series of fashionable weeks!
Since fall doesn’t officially arrive until the end of September, we will still be forced to wear cooler clothes for the classroom heat. But that’s not a problem! We can still look back to school ready, while keeping up with the summer weather.
For the first day and first few weeks, a simple striped tee and shorts are a must. You can spruce it up with your favorite adidas, converse, hair and new backpack. My small black bag is perfect for any necessary school items. The long straps allow for shoulder comfort and the distressed material adds a vintage style! I got mine at Marshalls, but there are similar ones here and here.
Whatever your back to school look may be, have an excellent beginning of the year!
Labor Day is the last weekend of the summer where you can hit the beach or have a barbecue with family and friends. Nothing beats the warm, bright sun and crisp early fall breeze like my favorite pair of Ray-Bans.
My blue Ray-Ban Aviator Flash Lenses are the perfect accessory for the end of summer labor day fun, all the way into fall and winter. The lenses are perfectly polarized to block out the sun’s rays, while adding a pop of color to a whole look.
For the beach, I like to pair these, or my classic aviators, with a simple bikini and coverup. When fall comes, I cannot wait to wear these apple picking with a big burgundy sweater, leggings, even jeans and a flannel. Pair the whole look with some perfect waves and easy makeup, and you have the best look around.
These glasses are pricey, and although worth it, can break the bank. There are several other inexpensive options here and here.
I recently went to Montreal for two days and had an amazing time! Packing seemed to be easy; bring some shorts, leggings, dress, converse etc. But when it comes to my makeup, narrowing down the items I bring can be tricky. However, figuring out your daily essentials makes picking items extremely easy. Here is exactly what I packed!
The key to packing makeup and other beauty essentials is finding the right bag to pack the items in. Target carries the Sonia Kashuk collection that has a variety of styles, sizes, patterns, and compartments. I typically only bring one primer and foundation, along with a basic tinted moisturizer. I also carry my favorite concealer to highlight and spot conceal, as well as pack two setting powders. The Benefit Hoola Bronzer is my new must have product. It warms up the skin and perfectly contours the cheek bones. I brought two blushes in different tones to spice up any look. I kept the eyes very minimal with one palette that also contains cheeks and a highlight. The hardest part is limiting the lip colors. Unless I plan on doing a specific look, I will bring mainly nude toned liquid lips and glosses, two max. Below are the links to the products I used.
The other day, I turned the big 21! The day was filled with plenty of love, yummy food, sweets, and great celebration! If you follow me on Instagram (courtneyk1) you would have seen snippets of the day! But I wanted to share it all (or most of it) including my hair, makeup, outfit, and a few pics of the night!
My romper was from Nordstrom (unfortunately out of stock) is by Astr (similar). It is a gorgeous emerald green with V neck and back. My bralette is from H&M and the shoes are just a simple gladiator flat.
Makeup was done by myself! My hair was done courtesy of Luxebar! If you are looking for a great blow dry bar, I definitely recommend it!
I want to thank everyone for the birthday wishes and a fabulous birthday! Until next year!
I was recently browsing around Sephora, picking up my daily necessities when I thought to myself, I need more glosses. Then again, I always say I need something makeup related. While looking around, I passed Nars’ glosses, which I love, then stumbled upon one of my favorite displays- Tarte. I’ve been eyeing their lip paints for a while. But because it is summer, I wasn’t looking for a matte lip cream, but a gloss. Clearly, it was meant to be! Tarte recently came out with their line of Tarteist Lip Paints, but glossy versions.
I purchased double tap, which is a slightly gray mauve. It has such a creamy and smooth formula without it being sticky and having to peel blown hairs out of my lips. The applicator is soft and a pretty decent size for the tube. The selection of colors range from peaches and pinks, to nudes and purples.
I have always been a fan of Tarte, so I am partly biased, but I am so content with my gloss purchase that I wanted to share it with you all. I get asked a lot what some of my favorite lip products are, and frankly, I have no idea! I have yet to find one that screams Me or that I would feel like wearing everyday. However, the lip paint is currently at the top of my list.
I paired the gloss with such a simple makeup look because the color looks great with full glam and little to no makeup. A link to the product is listed below, along with my new tutorial feat. the beautiful gloss!
The #NSale is back and better than ever! It’s the time of year where lovers of fashion and all things Nordstrom can get a peek into fall’s must haves and purchase it at some of the best prices around. Brands like Tory Burch, Sam Edelman, Touche, Astr, BP and more are on sale for great amazing prices.
The sale opened to the public Friday July 22nd, and I ran to my closest Nordstrom at 10 am to get everything that I was eyeing and more. I purchased quite a few fall staples that I will definitely be sporting on the cooler days of fall and winter. All products are listed with links to the website. The only thing not on sale I purchased was the Articles of Society denim. But for $64, I thought these were a steal considering other denim in the store were over $100 on sale. I’m also picky with jeans, so when I tried these on and fell in love, I knew I needed to grab them!
The sale ends August 8th. Prices will go back up to their normal retail range and will stay until they go on sale. Don’t wait until then! Go online today or in store and check out the pieces a part of the #NSale!
I have also been informed that some pieces that have sold out in the sale have been restocked, so definitely stay tuned and keep checking in.
I have recently been obsessed with the look of tight dresses and a curvy body. I’m not talking about the tacky bandage dresses that are short and show too much. I am talking about the sleek, midi-dress style bodycons that have been hitting Instagram and Twitter with a beat face and sexy shoes.
Being on the curvier side myself, nothing is hotter than showing off your butt and hips in a curve hugging (and covering) dress. It’s classy, yet shows just enough that it leaves a little to the imagination. They come in a number of sleeve options and can be bought with a plunging neckline or one that’s a bit more conservative.
I have recently been obsessed with the selection of these dresses in Nordstrom. With their recent anniversary sale, I am sure the selection for fall colors and styles are in abundance and at amazing prices. The two I have in stock in my closet are black and olive green. They are very plain but have little detail here and there such as cinching at the hip or a defined waist line. I like how they are muted neutrals that can be transitioned to any season. I also recommend owning gray, a light blush pink, and even a nude or tan tone. That way they are versatile for every season, and you can change it up by adding a sleeveless trench vest, leather jacket, or even short boots.
Skincare can be hard to come by. There are so many different products on the market to choose from that it can be difficult to decide whether to go the drug store or the higher end route. One thing is for sure, removing your makeup properly and taking care of your skin is SO SO SO IMPORTANT! I cannot stress that enough.
So many girls and guys neglect to remove their makeup at the end of the day because they are too tired or it will take too long. But sleeping with your makeup on is just plain disgusting. Your skin will be screaming to let it breath because it is trapped under all that dirt, pollution and makeup from the entire day.
My makeup removal routine is super simple, and so can yours. Usually I’ll hop in the shower and do the cleansing there, that way I can shave and wash my hair simultaneously. I use a few select products (some drugstore and some high end) to break down the makeup, remove, cleanse, tone, and moisturize. Those are the steps you should also be taking to ensure your skin is able to breath and is clean at the end of the day.
Even if you do not wear makeup, the amount of dirt present on the skin and pores, is much greater than one may think. Take the time to cleanse and remove any left over makeup from the day. You only have one skin. Take care of it.
